How To Throw The Perfect Office Party
Before you begin your event production, here are some things you may want to consider:
- Start an office "Party Account" with spending limits
- If nothing else, serve spectacular food, taking into consideration office eating habits (vegetarian, diabetic, etc.)
- Establish a dress code
- Include Fun Activities
- Come up with a plan of action
- Send invites a month in advance
- Alcohol is okay, but don't over emphasize it
- Promote harmony and camraderie between employees
- Focus on having FUN!
Themes:
Hawaiian Luau
Everybody loves the Hawaiian Luau, theme, and I mean EVERYBODY! Make sure to have sexy hula dancers and fire dancers to spice up the night and to provide entertainment. The hula dancers can also walk around with leis, or flower necklaces, and put them around the necks of the party guests, in accordance with Hawaiian tradition. To keep the party authentically Hawaiian, however, you're going to want to provide authentic Hawaiian food such as lau-lau, kalua pig, poi, and lomi-lomi salmon, as well as many others.
Las Vegas (Gambling)
They can win raffle tickets or prizes if you feel uncomfortable with live money games happening at a corporate event, or gambling is illegal in your state. Still, everybody loves a good gambling party! A little champagne, good food and music with craps, poker and blackjack games going on in the background, and you have yourselves a party!
Karaoke
A perennial favorite, it can be practically guaranteed somebody in your group will have the huevos to sing in front of their co-workers, but if nobody is, well, guess who has to step up to the plate! That's right, you! So make sure that others will be willing to sing. Other than that, karaoke is a great ice-breaker, and really lots of fun. If you haven't gone karaoke singing with your friends and experienced the fun time
60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s Theme
If you can be sure not to offend certain age groups, these type of themed parties can be a blast (from the past)! I love seventies funk and soul! Who doesn't? The 80s have been back for a while, but the 90s is still a little too recent for most, although the 90s is known as the golden era of hip hop, so if you have a younger-aged office, maybe they could appreciate a good 90s party!
Blacktie Formal
I know you hipsters out there are scared to admit it, but it is fun to get decked out in your nicest black tie formal attire, sip champagne, and party the night away! Men wear tuxedos, women wear cocktail, long dresses or dressy evening separates. Now it is traditionally a formal, but times do change, and you may see people at blacktie formals in blackshirt with a tux but no tie. You can also make the black tie optional if you prefer!
As you can see, there are more than a few ideas to choose from when planning the perfect office party. Focus your efforts, work together, stay within budget, and most importantly, HAVE FUN, and the rest fall in place. Relax! |
